Together we ran an exceptional, grassroots community and issues-focused campaign. As we went door-to-door we talked about the need to pass a responsible budget that protects Illinois families, to invest in early childhood education, and to achieve marriage equality.
Today, I pledged to honor Illinois’ newly passed, but not yet in effect, campaign finance reform law – SB1466. While this legislation needs much improvement, I have pledged to stay within the limits set by our legislature – the first limits in our state’s history.
As reported in today’s Evanston Review, another candidate in this race, while discussing the need for campaign finance reform, has accepted a $45,000 donation from a single special interest organization.
This donation was only a part of the $66,935 in total contributions made by the group. In all, the group’s contributions constitute nearly half of my competitor’s campaign funds to date.
